Toyota navigation update 2017 install#
Yes I know I can mount my phone on the dash, or install a third party head unit, but until my 3 years are up I'm looking to ideally use what I paid for It appears the 2019 maps are updated via USB stick, with the files stored in the infotainment units eMMC.Īnyone with thoughts, experience or confirmation etc? I know prior years map data is updated / used via SD cards, and you can even buy them grey market online. It seems odd nearly 1.5 years later there is no updates as of yet to offline maps. I'm trying to determine if my dealership is accurate, and so what prior experiences owners have had with the frequency of navigation system map updates from Toyota in general.
So, has anyone had map updates applied to the in vehicle Navigation system for any Rav 2019 or newer? I'm told I am entitled to 3 updates over a period of 3 years at no cost. Since the infotainment is only supporting CarPlay on 2019's for the foreseeable future (which sucks) and I'm an Android user, you can see the value in getting map updates. Nor does it have remote connect etc unlike 2020's, so obviously this is more relevant to myself vs newer model years in Canada, or other regions. Since it's a 2019 model in Canada it has limited features via the DCM and does not get streaming map updates via navigation planning etc. They've indicated no map updates exist as of yet for the 2019 or newer systems. I asked the dealership to check for and install navigation system map updates during my next service appointment.
I've got a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid, limited edition trim.
